Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

A new business trend is spreading throughout the globe in today’s age that is improving the lives for countless individuals. These new businesses are referred to as, “Buy-One Give-One Companies.” As explained in the name, these for-profit businesses follow a purchase with a charitable deed, often times it is supplying a person in need with the product as well. An example of one of the leading businesses in this movement is Soapbox Soap. Soapbox is a soap company that is saving thousands of lives across the world. They supply a vast amount of self-cleansing products and have a promise with every purchase. Soapbox Soaps promises to provide a fresh water, vitamin supplements or, of course, a bar of soap with every purchase. Being such a young business of only two years, Soapbox has amazingly made an impact on 4 different companies. Donating to various countries including; Haiti, Honduras, Canada, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand, India, South Africa, Zambia, and even here in the United States. They also provide soap locally to struggling families at homeless shelters, women shelters, and nursing homes in the United States. One of the brand’s main marketing focuses is on the potential impact of soap. They claim that thousands of children could be saved every day from a simple bar of soap. Utilizing such a vital product as soap for one of these Buy-One Give-One companies is a very innovative idea and seems to be working quite well for the people over at Soapbox. These charitable, yet still for-profit, companies are popping up all around the world today and have nothing but good to give to the Earth. This is the new direction for the future of business. These business owners not caving into capitalism yet still keeping food on your table just for the betterment of society is something everyone should support and admire. "In recent years, marketing also has become a major part of the strategies of many not-for-profit organizations, such as colleges, hospitals, museums, zoos, symphony orchestras, and even churches. The nation’s not-for-profits face stiff competition for support and membership. Sound marketing can help them to attract membership and support."
